SOLO
This rifle had to be built up
to a quality standard not down to a price- if
achieving the price goal could not be achieved
without compromising quality then the entire
project would be abandoned – the legendary Logun
standard has been built up over many years and it
is too important to be ignored for the sake of
economics.
The heart of any PCP air rifle
is the valving system; this controls the flow and
volume of air that propels the pellet along the
barrel and on towards its target. In conventional
air rifles this is usually a stand-alone unit
that is fed from the air reservoir and transfers
it to the breech, invariably this is a complex
and complicated system.
In the Solo a totally radical
and unique new system has been developed, the new
valve system is actually part of the air
receiver. This new system has been dubbed IVAR,
Integrated Valve and Receiver system. The result
of this new technology is that the air has a
shorter distance to travel to the pellet,
minimising lock time (the time from squeezing the
trigger to the pellet beginning its forward
travel) and maximising efficiency by not wasting
air.
The exemplary performance of
the rifle is down to three crucial factors; the
efficient IVAR system, the precision lapped Logun
designed high carbon steel barrel and the sweet
fully adjustable two stage trigger. The 385mm
barrel is manufactured using laser precision,
ensuring each barrel is straight, true and rifled
to exactingly tight tolerances. Any pellet that
travels along this beautifully machined barrel is
set on a journey that is consistent and perfectly
accurate. The newly designed two-stage trigger
system is fully adjustable enabling the
individual to tailor the trigger to suit their
style of shooting. It features a smooth first
stage and a crisp positive second action stage.
It is a trigger that would not be out of place on
a rifle costing twice the price of the Solo.
To complement the mechanical
accuracy afforded to the Solo by the IVAR system,
the trigger and the precision barrels a superb,
ergonomically perfect beech stock has been
fitted. This ambidextrous beauty is a pleasure to
use, making shouldering the rifle a smooth and
precise movement, the shooter instantly on target
and comfortable, aided by an ideal reach of pull
and Logun detailed butt pad.
It may not cost as much as
some of its stable mates but the Solo is all
Logun – built up to a Standard not down to a
price.
